PATIENT JOURNALS Lessons Learned Series - No. 30

Family love can significantly heal disease by providing emotional support, fostering healthier lifestyle choices, and creating a nurturing environment.

Such was the experience of Editho G. Mula who has been courageously fighting chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) since March 2020. He is a devoted husband to Liza, and a father of four from Butuan City,

While the financial burden was a significant challenge, Tatay Editho and his family remained steadfast in their faith, as they actively sought financial assistance through government agencies and social welfare offices.

Strong family bonds are linked to better health outcomes and successful recovery from severe illnesses. Family support during chronic diseases, such as leukemia, enhances adherence to treatment plans, and fosters emotional safety, allowing individuals to express their fears and anxieties.

In the case of Tatay Editho, emotional connection with his family members helped him cope with stress, and contributed to the improvement of his overall well-being.

In essence, the love and support of family played a crucial role in his healing journey, proof that relationships are a powerful source of strength and resilience.
