In observance of World Leukemia Awareness Month (September), EPCALM Board Member, Dr. Rachael Marie Rosario, joined Cito Beltran, Host of One News PH’s “Agenda” to discuss the urgent need for government health policy reform. Dr. Rosario, who was also the Executive Director of the Philippine Cancer Society, highlighted a sobering statistic: 70 percent of Filipino cancer patients fall into indigency following months of treatment. Furthermore, EPCALM Founder and Board Chair, Dr. Erlyn P. Cabanag-Demerre, emphasized that chemical exposure and stress are significant contributory factors to leukemia. She stressed the vital importance of early detection, noting that early intervention can fundamentally change the course of the disease.

EPCALM organized a Hope in Wellness Convention on 8-10 September 2017 at the SM Aura in Taguig City, which was highlighted by talks on health and wellness, products and activities that encourage wellness, and taking care of our health. Celebrity advocates also joined this event.

Dianne Medina ang Aljo Bendijo of PTV 4 talk to Dr. Robert Baugher, a grief specialist and certified death educator on 9 September 2015. He was a resource speaker for the EPCALM-sponsored “Understanding Grief 3: Grief Experience of Adolescents in the Philippines” on 8-9 September 2015 at the St. Luke’s Medical Center-Global City in Taguig City, Metro Manila. The conference-workshop sought to better understand real-life grief experiences of Filipino adolescents and youth to create deeper awareness of what they go through. It also presented some techniques and strategies toward self-recovery, healing and empowerment of adolescents undergoing grief.

Grief can often feel unbearable, but with the proper support, healing is possible. This topic was highlighted by Grief Specialist, Mel Erickson, during an interview on Net 25 in May 2013. Mel served as the primary resource speaker for the EPCALM-sponsored Grief Management Seminar, "Understanding Grief: The Healing Journey," held 10-11 May 2013 at St. Luke’s Medical Center-Global City in Taguig City, Metro Manila.

This is an interview with EPCALM Founder and Board Chair, Dr. Erlyn P. Cabanag-Demerre, which aired on 22 February 2011.
