Patient Stories Series
(No. 34)
Most people who meet John Patrick S. Regidor see a polite 22-year-old with a soft voice and a disarming smile. But behind that smile is a battle that began long before his leukemia diagnosis—one that continues even to this day.
JP, the youngest son of the late Patricio III and Theresa Regidor, grew up in Naga City, Camarines Sur in a home anchored by faith and perseverance. A Civil Engineering student at the University of Nueva Caceres, he was driven by a desire to build and give back to his community.
In March 2023, just weeks after losing his father to a stroke, JP began running unexplained fevers. He was soon diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) at the age of 20. Following aggressive chemotherapy, the family celebrated a brief remission in late 2023.

Remission in leukemia signifies a significant reduction or disappearance of detectable signs and symptoms of cancer. It indicates that tests can no longer find evidence of leukemia cells in the blood or bone marrow, and blood counts have returned to normal levels.
However, they faced the devastating news of a relapse in 2024. JP was recently referred to The Medical City in Pasig for specialized care. While his most recent bone marrow aspiration showed no leukemic cells, his hematologist has advised further chemotherapy to ensure remission. Ultimately, a bone marrow transplant is his only chance for long-term survival.
In addition to the physical toll, JP also has to navigate the emotional rollercoaster that comes with a cancer diagnosis. Fear, anxiety, and sadness were constant companions, but he refuses to let them define him.
The financial toll on the Regidor family is immense, and the cost of the bone marrow transplant remains overwhelming. Through it all, JP continues to wait with patience and faith. He is not just fighting for his life—he is fighting to live the one he had only just begun.
We invite you to join us in JP’s journey. Your prayers and support can help provide the lifeline he needs. (Sr. Minerva F. Jumawid)
