This is the enduring story of Merlita B. Macalino, a 34-year-old mother of two from Macabebe, Pampanga, who has been battling chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) since January 2021. Despite the challenges of her diagnosis, Merlita has faced her illness with remarkable resilience and determination.Throughout her journey, Merlita’s family has been her anchor. Her husband, John Phillip, and their children provide constant emotional support, while her sister, Mary Rose, and other relatives have been instrumental in funding essential procedures like her bone marrow biopsy.
In addition to her family, Merlita draws immense strength from her faith and the solidarity of the CML Warriors group in Pampanga. Her path eventually led her to EPCALM Foundation, where she continues to find the community and resources necessary for her healing. For Merlita, connecting with organizations like EPCALM and the CML Warriors is a vital starting point for sourcing medical options and accessing funding from both private and government agencies. No one has to face this battle alone.
