Despite the challenges of her leukemia diagnosis, Margie P. Villafuerte discovered she was pregnant in March 2023. While medical advisories often caution against pregnancy for female leukemia patients, Margie chose to move forward with courage.
Throughout her pregnancy, she sought support from the EPCALM Foundation to navigate her health concerns and ensure a safe delivery.
In December 2023, just before Christmas, Margie welcomed a healthy baby girl named Mhira Claire—a name chosen to honor the miraculous nature of her birth. This joyful milestone marked a new chapter for Margie, whose strength has been forged through past adversity and the support of her family in Malolos.
She is currently residing peacefully in Malolos with her husband and their two children. Her mother also lives with them, providing invaluable support and comfort to the family.
Margie continues to draw immense strength from her faith and the deep camaraderie she shares with her fellow CML patients. It is wonderful to see that her emotional fortitude has never been stronger.
Margie remains an active part of EPCALM, having attended the Foundation’s Christmas Fellowship on 16 December 2023. Today, she shares a message of positivity and faith, encouraging others facing similar health challenges to find solace in prayer and maintain a hopeful outlook.
Her story serves as a powerful reminder that acceptance and fortitude can turn life's greatest obstacles into stepping stones toward a fulfilling life.
