1 min read

At 34, Ricjosef D. Buenos Aires, an Accountancy graduate from Cardona, Rizal, was building a promising career when he was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in January 2026. The diagnosis came as a devastating shock, but with the unwavering support of his family, friends, and even strangers, he found the strength to face his journey with hope and courage.

Ricjosef endured 28 days of chemotherapy, multiple hospitalizations, and numerous medical procedures. Along the way, he also found a second family in EPCALM, whose community of fellow patients and caregivers reminded him that he was never alone.

Today, his laboratory results have improved significantly, and he is preparing for the next phase of treatment with steadfast faith. Ricjosef's story is a powerful reminder that while leukemia changes lives, faith, compassion, and a supportive community can make hope stronger than fear.
