EPCALM Joins Caravan of Social Welfare Groups

The EPCALM Foundation recently joined social welfare and development agencies (SWDA) in Metro Manila in a one-day Caravan to raise public awareness on programs and services available for disadvantaged sectors. Organized by the Area-Based Standards Network (ABSNET)-Central Cluster, the fair was held at the Grounds of the Quezon City Hall.

The ABSNET is composed on non-government organizations registered by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in line with its program to institutionalize collaboration with SWDAs.

SWDAs act as partners of DSWD in providing quality social welfare services to the poor, vulnerable, and the disadvantaged. Their partnership with local government units (LGU) plays a vital role in ensuring proper and equitable service delivery.

The Caravan was participated in by member- SWDAs in the National Capital Region, including EPCALM, which form the Central Cluster of ABSNET. The EPCALM booth displayed its advocacy merchandise, such as mugs, tee-shirts, tote bags, Martin Nievera compact discs, and some food items. It was also an opportunity to distribute the EPCALM brochure, which details the Foundation’s programs and services.  Among the many EPCALM Booth visitors included ABSNET-Central Cluster Chairperson, Linda T. Perez.

On hand to welcome visitors to the EPCALM Booth were Emma Magsino and Crisan Cruz, Outreach and Advocacy/ Public Awareness Program Directors, respectively; the Foundation’s registered Social Workers;  student interns from the University of the Philippines-Manila; and Executive Director Mitch Duran.
